According to CNN President Chris Licht, employees will not be allowed to drink during New Year’s Eve broadcasts.
Licht will be present in CNN’s control rooms on New Year’s Eve. He is working to rebrand CNN as a serious news channel. According to Max Tani, Semafor, Licht will also oversee the New Year’s Eve telecast. This will include sobriety among CNN employees.
Licht stated this year that Cohen and Cooper would be allowed to consume alcohol in an internal meeting. Cooper expressed concern at the perception that only white hosts can drink.
Licht then took that rule back. “Chris made a casual remark during a town hall regarding drinking during the NYE programme,” an aide stated. “He contacted Anderson immediately to clarify his remarks as a joke, and that he prefered no drinking on-air.”

The new regime is not going to ruin the fun for everyone. Andy Cohen stated that the new regime will not allow correspondents to drink this year and that he would be “partying harder” for them.
After CNN was criticised for showing “raunchy tweets” posted live by pranksters, the primetime broadcast has been modified.

Anderson Cooper, the anchor, and Andy Cohen (Bravo executive) hosted the broadcast. They appeared inebriated. They were seen drinking tequila shots live on air. During the drunken scene, Cooper could be heard moaning loudly.
