The President told reporters on Thursday that he supports the Florida GOP Rep. Anna Paulina Luna’s resolution to allow pregnant mothers of Congress to vote by proxy.
According to a pool report, Trump told reporters outside Air Force One: “I don’t know why this is controversial.”
Luna told NewsNation that Trump assured her “that this will get resolved” during their Wednesday conversation.
The House of Representatives voted 222 to 206 in favor of the measure, which was supported by all Democrats and nine Republicans.
Johnson believes that proxy voting is not constitutional.

The Republican Speaker said, “Look, as a father and a pro-family, I am,” late last month. “I think it violates over two centuries of tradition, and I’m pro-family,” the Republican speaker said late last month. It opens Pandora’s Box, and I believe that no one will be here in the end.
Luna resigned from the House Freedom Caucus after she pushed for proxy voting. She said that members who “broker deals in the back room” that go against the values of the group would no longer be a part of it.
Trump stated that he is in favor of proxy voting but will leave it to Johnson.
Trump said, “I will let the speaker decide the issue. But I like the concept.”
