A Massachusetts police officer says that an Amazon driver dumped around 80 packages in a forested area just before Christmas.

Lakeville Police Department reports that during a routine Sunday morning patrol, one of its sergeants discovered the items left unattended.

Shawn Robert is a Sgt. Shawn Robert discovered three large totes with Amazon packages scattered in the woods, according to a press release. 80 packages were then inventoried at the Lakeville Police Department.

An Amazon delivery driver then visited the police department the following day and “reported that they left the packages on the side of the road at about 7 p.m. on Saturday because they were stressed,” according to authorities.

The packages have been returned to Amazon’s distribution center in Middleborough in southeast Massachusetts.

Matthew Perkins, Lakeville Police chief, stated: “At this time, we are not seeking criminal charges. This is a matter that concerns Amazon’s human resources. “

As Teamster drivers continued their strike against Amazon, the company refused to follow the law or bargain.

According to the union, Amazon failed to meet their deadline on Dec. 15 for negotiating new contracts which would have provided better wages and benefits as well as working conditions.

Amazon has held firm, however, insisting they have no intention of sitting down with the Teamsters because, in their words, they “don’t represent any Amazon employees.”
