Former Vice President Mike Pence, in a speech he gave on Saturday night in Las Vegas, announced his decision to end his presidential campaign for 2024.
Pence told the Republican Jewish Coalition Conference that he “just couldn’t miss this.” The Bible says that every purpose has a specific time. After traveling the country for the last six months, it became clear to me that this was not my time.
“After much prayer and consideration, I have decided today to suspend my presidential campaign. “I’m leaving the campaign but I promise that I will not stop fighting for conservative values or to elect principled Republican candidates to all offices. In the country. “So help me God,” continued he.
He added: “To the American public, I say this is not my moment, but yours is still.”

Pence’s election campaign was never going to work. Many in a Trump-dominated party still blame Pence for the certification of the 2020 elections despite the fact that there are many questions and concerns about election irregularities occurring in battleground states. Trump, who has falsely claimed that Pence had such authority, and many of Trump’s diehard supporters, have followed his lead. Pence has admitted that the 2020 election was tainted by irregularities, despite what he did on January 6.
Pence stated, “On January 6th I said I believed there were irregularities which I was concerned about, and I wanted to give them a fair hearing in Congress.” Since the founding of the United States, it has been established that elections should be run at the state level. The only role Congress can play is to open the votes and count them. “No more, no less.”
Pence’s election campaign was never going to have much of a shot. He has never scored above single digits in polls and his fundraising is not spectacular.
The filings indicate that Pence has raised approximately $620,000 in debt and $3.3 million in the third quarter of fundraising. The Hill reports that he ended September with only $1.2 million cash in hand. “By comparison, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has long been considered Trump’s main rival, raised $15 million in the third quarter through his campaign committees and fundraising committees. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former South Carolina governor, brought in $11 million between her three political committees over the same period.”
