For the first time in public, President Biden speaks out about his granddaughter Navy Joan Roberts. She is the estranged child of Hunter Biden, who Biden had not previously acknowledged.
Biden stated that “our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden are working together in order to foster a positive relationship in the best interest of their daughter. They will preserve her privacy in any way possible moving forward.”
He added, “This is a family issue and not a politics matter.” “Jill, and I want the best for all of our grandchildren including Navy.”
Biden and Jill Biden, First Lady of the United States, had refused to acknowledge Navy on numerous occasions. They would often omit her by saying they only have four granddaughters.
In December 2022, the White House for the second year in a row left Navy out of its Christmas stocking display. Before that, Biden said incorrectly that he and Jill Biden each had five grandchildren. He forgot about the then-newborn Beau Biden but completely ignored Navy.
Biden said he only had six grandchildren at an April White House event called “Take Your Child to Work Day”. “I’m crazy for my six grandchildren. Every day I talk to them. “Not a joke,” said he.
Karine Jean Pierre, the press secretary, shut down a reporter’s question about Navy earlier this month by saying that she “had nothing to share.”
Hunter and Roberts’ mother Lunden Alexis Roberts settled their Arkansas child support case in June. This ended a long-running paternity dispute. In a court filing, Hunter admitted to giving his daughter some of the paintings he had painted. The mother of the child also agreed to drop her counterclaim that she wanted to change the last name of their child to “Biden.”
